PROJECT INTRODUCTION
Water Point
This is a personal project, consisting of a mobile app design for a environmental campaign. The aim of the app, is to show people where their nearest ‘water point’ is, where they can refill their water bottles for free. This could be a public water fountain, coffee shop etc. Which encourages people to use refillable water bottles rather than buy disposable plastic ones.
Try the prototype at the bottom of the page!
Brief
To design an app, and create a brand identity including branding (fonts/ colour palette)
Outcomes
-
Logo and alternate logo
-
Site map/ UX plan
-
Mobile app design
Objectives
The app must be simple to use, understandable for all, accessible for children, and the elderly etc.
Because of the nature of the app concept, it should be quick and easy to access.
Have an intuitive interface, with clear visual symbols, and limited number of pages, and elements.

IDENTITY DEVELOPMENT
Logo development
I created the logo and identity for this project. Above are some of my ideas and iterations before deciding on the final one. Because this was a personal project, I didn't have to consult with a client so I had full creative control.
I wanted the identity to be simple, clear and fun.
The colours I used were supposed to be appropriate to the concept, but also a bit interesting/ quirky. Which is why I used blue/ purples.
USER FLOW
WIREFRAMES
USER TESTING ROUND 1
User testing round 1
I created a working prototype of the wireframe, and then gave it to some friends to test out. The feedback was overall good, but I got some helpful feedback. I watched them use the prototype and then asked them questions.
Results
Some of the features are not visible enough
Improvements
-
Add signifier for the 'add point' feature on home page/ map
-
Add more search options
USER TESTING ROUND 2
User testing round 2
I then created a GUI mock-up and tested it. On the left are images of the testing and feedback I got.
Results/ Observations
-
The 'add point' feature is not big enough/ visible enough
-
A few small navigational issues
Improvements
-
Make the 'add point' feature button bigger
-
'About us' page needs an exit button
-
see if it would be possible to cut down steps
